Job Description

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

To provide leadership, vision, and direction to the children’s ministry that aligns with the mission of Calvary with a focus on connecting children and families to the church community thus creating an environment in which the Gospel can be favorably received and disciples can be multiplied.

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Ability to communicate the Gospel through various means to people of all ages
  • Ability to articulate and implement the vision of Calvary Tuscaloosa
  • Experience ministering to children with a passion for kids and their families
  • Knowledge of effective kids ministry structures and curriculum
  • Ability to cast vision and plan for continued growth
  • Computer competency (or ability to learn) – MS Office, ProPresenter, Planning Center, or similar systems

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing leadership, direction, training, and oversight for all children’s ministry staff, leaders, and volunteers
  • Providing leadership and oversight for all children’s ministry events that include, but are not limited to the following: Sunday morning small groups, Sunday morning children’s worship, Wednesday night ministry, Vacation Bible School, Connect Camp,
  • Developing and maintaining systems for safety and security of children
  • Developing and maintaining clean, aesthetic, and developmentally-appropriate learning environments
  • Building ministry teams by recruiting, training, and investing in volunteers
  • Creating and efficiently managing the children’s ministry budget with direction from the senior pastor and/or finance committee
  • Communicating consistently and effectively with parents and ministry volunteers
  • Encouraging and equipping parents to develop a biblical worldview for their children
  • Other duties as assigned by the senior pastor
