About Our Church:
Calvary Protestant Church, established in 1874, is a long-standing, well respected institution in Baldwin, NY, a suburb of New York City. We are known for our warm, welcoming membership, which currently consists of 75 people of diverse ages and cultures representative of our community. Our worship services are currently mostly traditional in style, with organ, hymns, and adult choir, though we are open to a more blended style. We meet in a church of traditional and historic design that is valued by our congregation. The building is spacious, offering various rooms for church activities and outreach, including a fellowship hall and gymnasium. Our doctrine conforms to the EFCA statement of faith. Job Description – Full-time Pastor
Responsibilities:
• Biblical preaching and teaching
o Weekly Sunday morning sermons
o Wednesday night Bible study
o Expository teaching with application
• Leadership
o Work collaboratively and respectfully with elders, deacons, church staff
o Exhibit a leadership style that is compassionate, collaborative, and empowering
• Shepherding
o Administer believer’s baptism and communion
o Help visit the sick and shut-ins
o Be available for pastoral counseling
o Be available for weddings and funerals, etc.
• Administration
o Serve as member of the elder board
o Be involved in the day-to-day functioning of the church
• Evangelism/Discipleship
o Help lead the church in outreach to the community
o Help build people to be Christ-like and equipped for ministry
Qualifications:
• Master of Divinity degree from an accredited seminary preferred
• Personal doctrine in agreement with the EFCA doctrinal statement
• Ministry experience preferred
• Evangelistic in attitude and heart
