Job Description

Ambassador Bible Church (ABC) is a multi-ethnic church located in Chantilly, VA, and affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). Our average Sunday attendance is 140+ adults ranging from young adults to senior adults, 50+ students (middle school, high school, college), and 60+ children ranging from nursery-5th grade.

Our mission is to be a God-glorifying, gospel-centered, grace-filled community that loves Jesus and is empowered by the Spirit to make and equip disciples of all nationalities to be Christ’s ambassadors to all the nations. Our unique contribution to the mission is through our vision to be a church to call home.

Our staff currently consists of a Senior Pastor, a Youth and College Pastor, a Children’s Ministry Director, a Director of Discipleship, and an Administrative Assistant. We are seeking an Associate Pastor of Students and Young Adults, a new position into which the current youth and college role will be integrated.

We are excited to add a person to our team who shares the same heart and desire to cultivate a disciple-making culture for the sake of the gospel and for the glory of God.

POSITION:
Full-Time Associate Pastor of Students and Young Adults

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To make and equip disciple-making disciples of students and young adults.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A vibrant and growing walk with Jesus exhibited in a lifestyle that is consistent with the qualities mentioned in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

A clear sense of calling for pastoral ministry.

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or higher in Bible/Theology/Ministry preferred, or equivalent experience.

Full alignment with the Ambassador Bible Church/EFCA Statement of Faith.

Ordained or willing to pursue ordination with an approved denomination or ministry organization.

Healthy interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Proven experience (3-5 years preferred) or growth potential in the following areas:
-Making and equipping disciple-making disciples
-Building, leading, and shepherding teams to carry out the work of ministry
-Organizing, planning, and coordinating ministry programs and events
-Teaching and preaching
-Ministering and relating in a multi-ethnic context
-Being a team player

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary: Provide leadership, vision, development, and oversight of our youth ministry (Ignite), college ministry, and emerging young adult ministry (post-college singles and marrieds in their 20’s-30’s)

Secondary: Assist the Senior Pastor in various facets of church ministry, including, but not limited to:
-Preaching
-Teaching
-Counseling
-Sunday service coordination and implementation

In regard to Youth Ministry:
Recruit, train, lead, and disciple a team of disciple-makers who will invest in the youth to be disciple-making disciples.
Build relationships with students and their families to come alongside their growth in Christ.
Oversee all programming for the youth ministry.
Create separate and combined opportunities for middle schoolers and high schoolers to grow in Christ and build community with one another.
Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new youth and families.
Be available to counsel students and their families as needed or provide referrals.
Provide resources and support to parents to form a strategic gospel partnership.
Oversee the development and implementation of the youth ministry budget.
Develop and enforce policies necessary in maintaining a safe ministry environment.

In regard to College Ministry:
Recruit, train, lead, and disciple a team of disciple-makers who will invest in college students to be disciple-making disciples.
Initiate discipleship and fellowship opportunities during the school year and on breaks.
Equip and empower college students to be active participants in the life of the church.

In regard to Young Adults:
Recruit, train, lead, and disciple a team of disciple-makers who will invest in young adults to be disciple-making disciples.
Cast vision for our emerging young adult ministry.
Initiate discipleship and fellowship opportunities for young adults.
Mobilize young adults for gospel ministry inside and outside the church.
