Position Summary:
Lead and oversee the discipleship process of the church. A relational leader with a passion for connecting and encouraging people to take their next steps to grow and mature in their faith.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Have a heart for people and a desire to lead them into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Develop an effective discipleship strategy, including a plan that ensures continuous improvement and growth of groups and group leaders.
Recruit, develop, and equip volunteers to lead small groups.
Oversee the assimilation/follow-up strategy to connect new guests to the church community through serving, life groups, etc..
Oversee a process to help attendees take the next step in their relationship with God (Connect Class, New Believers Class, Baptism, Serving, Community Groups, LifeGroups, etc.).
Recruit, train, and develop host team leaders who are motivated and equipped to provide excellent service at weekend worship gatherings. (Host teams include: Parking, Coffee Shop, Ushers, Greeters, etc.).
Oversees scheduling of volunteers in Planning Center.
Communicate with Staff and Ministry Volunteers regularly.
Work alongside the pastors and staff for the overall vision of 902 Church.
Function as a member of the church’s pastoral staff performing baptisms, weddings, funerals, etc.
Assist in the development of an annual budget for the Discipleship Ministry and manage the spending of the budget.
Provide pastoral care to families and members as needed.
Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
Education and/or Experience (must have one or more of the following):
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred
4 years related experience and/or training preferred
Equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge and Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
Ability to write reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of volunteers, church members, or staff members of the organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Must have a teachable spirit and a willingness to grow as a leader.
Must have a genuine heart to disciple the congregation and help them grow in their relationship with God.
Must have an enthusiasm for ministry and a desire to lead people.
Natural ability to connect with people.
