Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

At present we are seeking a full-time Pastor of Hospitality Ministries. A successful candidate will be a lover and connector of people who oversees the Congregational Life Zone and leads the Hospitality Ministries Department with a shepherd’s heart.

They will have an aptitude for pastoral care and equipping the saints for ministry and a desire to be innovative in their approach to accomplishing their ministry objectives. They will work with the adults of Colorado Community Church to birth and coach ministries that inspire our congregation to welcome, love and care for those visiting our church and one another well as we grow in community.

This individual should function comfortably in a multicultural and interdenominational setting. Further, they should have the experience and skills to provide staff leadership and oversight.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

This position primarily works with the adults of Colorado Community to birth and coach ministries that inspire our congregation to welcome, love and care for those visiting our church, and one another, as we grow in community. This position reports to the Executive Pastor. This is a full-time, salaried (exempt), Zone Leader position with benefits.

  • Zone Leadership:
    • Provide oversight and leadership to the Congregational Life Zone including guidance, encouragement, brainstorming and support to the Spiritual Formation & Care Pastor, Young Adults & Sports Pastor, and the Specialized Ministries Coordinator.
    • Serve as the supervisor for the Congregational Life Administrative Assistant.
    • Work with the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor to provide input on ministry plans and budgets within the Congregational Life Zone and then monitor the accomplishment of those plans and budgets.
  • Department Leadership
    • Provide vision, leadership and resources for an effective, Christ-centered Hospitality Ministries Department to the adults of Colorado Community.
    • Develop a fiscally responsible budget and ensure the ministry operates within its confines.
    • Develop and execute an annual Ministry Plan for this department.
  • Hospitality Teams
    • Work in collaboration with the Communications Department to recruit and train Welcome Center and First-Time Visitor volunteer team members.
    • Oversee Weekend Service Hospitality Teams (Ushers, Greeters, Parking) including recruiting, equipping and appreciation of volunteers.
  • Community Events
    • Oversee and execute regular events (corporate community parties) that will help foster community and relationship at Colorado Community. Examples might include: Picnics, Comedy Nights, Movies & Munchies, Chili Cook-offs, Dinner for 8s, Affinity Groups, Patio Parties, Happy Hour Groups, etc.
  • Pastoral Liaison
    • Serve as pastoral liaison to the following areas of ministry to give oversight and, as needed, help recruit, equip, appreciate and motivate leaders:
      • Men’s Ministry Groups (Journeymen, Poker & Chess nights, Retreats, Father-Daughter dance, Father-Son Picnic, etc.)
      • Women’s Ministry Groups (Mops, CBS, Bible Studies, Bunko, Widows Group, Red Hat Group, Retreats, Mother’s Day Tea)
      • Single Adult Groups (none currently)
  • General Shepherding
    • Share in the Pastoral Shepherding of the congregation by participating in the “Pastor of the Day” (POD) and “Emergency Pastor on Call” (EPOC) rotations, Performing weddings and funerals, Compassion Fund requests, Hospital visitation, Involvement in weekend worship services as requested, etc.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Work Schedule: Must be available to work at least 44 calendar weekends per year for worship service coverage as well as special services (Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, etc.). Up to three (3) additional weekends away to, “Grow Fruit on Other’s Trees” may be requested for outside ministry purposes (retreat, mission trip, training conference, etc.). Such requests require advance approval to ensure adequate pastoral coverage.
    • Office Hours: Regular office hours will be Tuesday – Friday.
    • Meetings: Attend all required staff meetings and retreats (Weekly “Devos & Prayer”, Monthly Staff Luncheons, Annual Retreat)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Character
    • A Christ honoring life marked by personal holiness, prayer, bible study, spiritual and emotional maturity and increasing dependence on the Holy Spirit (Titus 1:6-9, 1 Timothy 3:1-7).
    • Unquestionable integrity specifically in areas of handling finances, relationships and time management.
    • A person who understands and models the Christian principle of servant-leadership.
    • An extrovert who is eager, flexible and has a teachable spirit.
  • Competency
    • Seminary degree with at least 10 years of full-time ministry experience preferred, but equivalent ministry experience and bible college degree is acceptable.
    • Prior completion of an official pastoral license or ordination process comparable to Colorado Community’s preferred, but not required.
    • Pastoral gifting; naturally shepherds with strong gifts in servant leadership and pastoral care.
    • Proven skill in equipping and releasing leaders into ministry (Eph. 4:16) as well as experience in team building and training people for ministry.
    • A self-starter; always learning from books, podcasts, others, and life experiences with a commitment to excellence.
    • Effectively communicates with and relates to people of all ages.
    • Comfortable in interdenominational and multicultural settings.
    • Solid computer skills with competency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite programs.
    • Able to learn and effectively use the church database system.
  • Convictions
    • In full agreement with Colorado Community’s “Statement of Faith” and wholeheartedly embraces and champions “Who We Are”.
    • Supportive of the structure and leadership of Colorado Community Church (i.e.: Christ centered, Board governed, Staff led, Congregation Mobilized)
    • A clear call to pastoral ministry and affirmation in that role.
    • Strives for excellence in all work duties and is passionate about seeing others succeed.
