Trinity Bicycle Regulations

Please read thoroughly.

The following regulations have been developed for the protection of personal and university property and for compliance with fire codes.

  1. Registration:
Anyone who has a bicycle on campus must obtain a Trinity Bicycle Permit. Permits are to be displayed on the crossbar or under the seat. Permits are not valid unless properly displayed. Permits are available at registration or may be obtained at the Housing Office during normal business hours. There is no charge for bicycle permits. Bicycles must be registered within 5 business days of being brought on campus. Unregistered bicycles will be impounded as listed in "Violations."
  2. Storage:
Bicycles are only to be stored in bicycle racks located outside buildings, in designated storage units, or inside residential living areas (e.g., dorm rooms and apartments), not suite areas, hallways, or stairwells. Bicycles are not to be left lying out on the grass.
  3. Inspection:
Institutional Services will inspect bicycle racks, storage areas, and other locations to ensure compliance with these regulations.
  4. Violations:
Bicycles will be removed and impounded at Institutional Services when found in violation of any of the stated regulations. This may include the cutting of bicycle chains when necessary. The owner will be responsible for the retrieval of the bicycle within 30 days, after which time the bicycle becomes the property of Trinity International University and may be disposed of as deemed appropriate. There will be a $5 fee to reclaim a bicycle. Bicycles that are not registered must be registered with Security before release.
  5. Liability:
Trinity is not responsible for stolen bicycles or damage resulting from their removal in accordance with the stated regulations.
  6. Riding:
    a. Bicycles must follow the same rules as motor vehicles while on campus roads (e.g., stop signs, stay right, etc.).
    b. Bicycles may be ridden on sidewalks when necessary, but pedestrians must always be given the right of way.
    c. Bicycles may not be stored in the bicycle racks on campus over the summer without permission from Security.
