Jeanette L. Hsieh, EdD

Jeanette L. Hsieh is interim president at Trinity International University, as well as executive vice president/provost and professor of education.

Prior to assuming her present role at Trinity, Hsieh was dean of the college and graduate school and senior vice president for academic affairs for seven years. Before that, she was chair of the education department at Wheaton College. While at Wheaton, Hsieh developed and coordinated the master of arts in teaching program for ten academic disciplines. Before that she served as director of teacher education at Judson College, where she developed the secondary physical science, secondary mathematics, and secondary English education programs. She also has taught in Illinois school districts in Deerfield and Elgin.

Hsieh earned the Doctor of Education in curriculum and supervision from Northern Illinois University, the Master of Arts in Christian education from Wheaton College, and the Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Westmont College.

Hsieh's areas of expertise include the role of Christian teachers in a pluralistic society and multicultural education in Christian colleges and universities. Hsieh served as president of the Illinois Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the Illinois Association for Teacher Education in Private Colleges. She serves on the Board of Trustees at Wheaton College.

Hsieh has contributed to numerous papers and publications on education, including a chapter in Nurturing Christians as Reflective Educators (Light Educational Consulting and Publishing, 1997).

She has addressed the issues of cultural pluralism and multiculturalism before college associations such as the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities, the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the Illinois Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, and the Illinois State Board of Education.

Hsieh resides in Elgin, Illinois, with her husband, Theodore. They have two grown sons.
