Dr. Kenneth Meyer's Term as Chancellor Ends

  Dr. Kenneth M. Meyer
Dr. Kenneth M. Meyer (MDiv '56), will reach the end of his term as Chancellor of Trinity International University on August 31, 2007. Dr. Meyer has served Trinity for more than thirty-five years, providing leadership as president for twenty-one years and as chancellor for twelve.

Dr. Meyer became president of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in November 1975 and president of Trinity College in 1984. In August 1995 he retired from the presidency and was named Chancellor of TIU and Dr. Gregory L. Waybright was selected as the new president. Over the years, he served in a number of capacities, providing leadership and oversight to the Torch-Trinity Graduate School of Theology (a seminary that Trinity launched in concert with the Korean Center for World Missions in Seoul, South Korea); to Trinity Law School in Santa Ana, California; to the Florida Regional Center; and most recently to Trinity's highly ranked contemporary Christian music station in Florida, 89.7 WMCU Spirit FM.

"The weight of leadership often is heavy," said Dr. Waybright. "Yet [Dr. Meyer] has borne it with consistency and strength. Everyone knows that it is hard to step in after a long presidency by another—especially when the predecessor is still involved in the institution. However, I think Dr. Meyer and I have shown that good and healthy succession can happen. I believe the main reason it has worked for us is that Dr. Meyer has been so fully supportive of my leadership throughout my presidency. He gave advice, asked good questions, pushed back on decisions at times—but all of it in a good and constructive way. He has been unbelievably encouraging to me again and again, and I thank God for the chance I have had to serve with him."
