Dr. Kevin Vanhoozer's Books Receive Christianity Today Book Awards Trinity Evangelical Divinity School's Research Professor of Systematic Theology Dr. Kevin J. Vanhoozer received two 2006 Christianity Today Book Awards. His book The Drama of Doctrine: A Canonical-Linguistic Approach to Theology (Westminster/John Knox) won in the Theology/Ethics category, and the Dictionary for Theological Interpretation of the Bible (Baker Academic), which he edited with Craig Bartholomew, Daniel Treier, and N. T. Wright, won in the Biblical Studies category.
The other categories were Apologetics/Evangelism, Christianity and Culture, Christian Living, The Church/Pastoral Leadership, Fiction, History/Biography, Missions/Global Affairs, and Spirituality. CT staff selected the top books for each category from the 240 titles that were nominated by 37 publishers. A panel of judges for each category selected the final 22 award winners. The Theology/Ethics panel described Drama of Doctrine as "A substantial contribution to contemporary evangelical theological method. Erudite and creative, it does not cover old ground. Will stimulate thought and discussion about difficult questions and possible solutions to thorny theological problems for a long time." The Biblical Studies panel called the Dictionary "A landmark volume for the church's engagement with Scripture. It will be a basic resource on the role and use of the Bible."
