Obama v. McCain, Religion and Presidential Elections Paul J. Maurer, PhD
With the presidential
election only a month away, electoral buzz will be all around us, but how
Christians think about politics has changed. In anticipation of this historic
election, Dr. Maurer will offer a glimpse into the role of religion in the
White House, beginning with FDR through Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan, and
reflections on the role of faith in the campaigns of Senators McCain and
Obama.(Dr. Maurer’s doctoral studies in political science include an emphasis
on American presidency. He is writing a book on the religious rhetoric of Jimmy
Carter and Ronald Reagan.)
