About the Conference

Why is it that people present more frequently and persistently with anxiety and depression in our contemporary culture? Where does the root of the problem lie - within the suffering person, society, modern culture, or elsewhere? How can the mental health professional effectively treat this modern distress?

Twenty-first century living clearly seems to have produced a modern stress that in turn produces a modern anxiety and depression. This modern stress is a problem that needs to be understood and treated seriously. Its impact transcends profession, age, race, and religion. The mental health professional has no immunity and even the faithful Christian cannot escape it.

This workshop offers a new understanding of the impact of modern stress on life and the resulting anxiety and depression it can produce. In addition, it examines current trends in the treatment of anxiety and depression, while exploring the impact of these trends on the mental health professional.
