1. How long will it take me to complete the MAR program?
Depending upon your course load per semester, the program
can take anywhere from 2-3 years to complete. This includes
your courses and the field-education requirement.
2. Is the MAR program offered in an accelerated format?
Our MAR program is not accelerated but follows the traditional,
semester-based format. However, classes are conveniently held
on weekday evenings and weekends.
3. What is the difference between the Practical Theology
and the Pastoral Counseling concentrations in the MAR program?
Am I required to choose one of the concentrations?
The MAR program has a significant number of required elective
hours. In order to fulfill the elective hour requirements,
you can choose to take courses within the areas of Practical
Theology or Pastoral Counseling, or you may choose to take
a combination of classes from these and other areas. You are
not required to choose a specific concentration.
4. What profession(s) will benefit from the MAR
program?
The MAR program is useful for people in various capacities
who are entering into, or are already in ministry. Pastors,
Bible teachers, people involved in ministry, missions, or
evangelism in church or parachurch organizations will all
benefit from this general theological studies program.
5. What is the field education requirement in the
MAR program?
Field education is a field-based learning experience involving
mentoring by an approved mentor and hands-on ministry experience
in a local church, parachurch, or other organization. You
have a number of options as to the specific area in the church
or other organization in which you can fulfill this requirement.
Each option, such as pastoral ministries, media, evangelism,
and women's ministries, has specific semester and supervision
requirements for the duration of the internship which will
be discussed in further detail upon entering the program.
