
1. How long will it take me to complete the MACP
program?
Depending upon your course load per semester, the program
can take anywhere from 3-4 years to complete. This includes
your courses and the internship requirement for your specific
concentration.
2. Is the MACP program in an accelerated format?
Our MACP program is not accelerated but follows the
traditional, semester-based format. However, classes are conveniently
held on weekday evenings and weekends.
3. What is the difference between the Mental Health
Counseling and the Guidance & Counseling concentrations in
the MACP program?
The Mental Health Counseling concentration fulfills the academic
requirements and prepares you for licensure as a Mental Health
Counselor in the state of Florida, while the Guidance & Counseling
concentration fulfills the academic requirements and prepares
you for certification as a School Guidance Counselor in the
Florida state school system.
4. Once I complete the MACP program, with the Guidance
& Counseling concentration, what else must I do in order to
obtain my certification as a Guidance Counselor in the school
system?

or request in writing, a copy of the requirements from the

5. If I choose the Guidance & Counseling concentration,
what will be required of me to fulfill the internship requirements
while in the program?
You must complete a minimum of a two semester internship,
with at least 10 hours per week in an elementary or secondary
school.
6. What profession does the Guidance & Counseling
concentration prepare me for?
This concentration prepares you for becoming a Guidance Counselor.
Before you graduate from the MACP program with the Guidance
& Counseling concentration, you should contact the Florida
Department of Education (see contact information below) to
understand the requirements for Florida State certification
as a guidance counselor in the school system, public or private.
