NOTE: During the semester of student teaching, you must be
available during regular school hours and not be employed
full-time. This is an intense time of work and students must
give full attention to teaching.
Admission Requirements for the Elementary Education
major:
- Completed application packet (see below)
- At least 26 transferable college credits, to include a
college writing or equivalent course with a "C" or better
- Cumulative transfer GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Passing grade on entrance essay
- Be at least twenty-three years of age or older
At the completion of the program, it is the
student's responsibility to seek teacher certification by
presenting to the Office of Teacher Certification, Florida
Department of Education, evidence of having completed the
required professional and methods courses. The Office of Teacher
Certification grants certification based on transcript review.
