Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology Program

Elizabeth Y. Skjoldal
Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology

Dr. Skjoldal started at Trinity International University-South Florida Campus in 1994. She earned the Bachelor of Science from Florida Southern College in 1980, the Master of Science in Education in 1982, the Doctor of Philosophy in 1989, both from the University of Miami.

Prior to assuming her position at Trinity, Dr. Skjoldal was the supervising psychologist at the University of Miami Medical Pain and Rehabilitation Center and at the Department of Behavioral Medical Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. In this capacity she treated a myriad of behavioral medicine disorders, especially as they relate to adult and childhood trauma. Dr. Skjoldal has lectured at a number of professional societies, including the Southern Pain Society and the American Pain Society and taught seminary courses in both Spanish and English. She has also done consultation work with numerous mission organizations and continues to counsel in private practice. She is married to Dr. Neil Skjoldal and the mother of two girls.

Kimberly Barnett Oram

As a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Kim Barnett Oram specializes in both individual therapy and coaching for adults and adolescents. She also provides group therapy, couples counseling, and career counseling. Her experience includes work in university counseling, community mental health, and substance abuse treatment centers. She has also taught college-level psychology courses as an adjunct psychology instructor. In private practice, she is a generalist capable of addressing most mental health and coaching issues. She provides treatment from a holistic perspective, attending to the emotional, physical, and spiritual/religious needs of a person. Counseling from a Christian perspective is a specialty area.

A member of the American Psychological Association, Kim is licensed to practice as a psychologist in Tennessee, Florida, Virginia, and West Virginia. She holds a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and earned a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech.

Kim is a native of Tazewell, Virginia, a small town in the Appalachians of Southwestern Virginia.
