Tim serves as Associate Professor of Hebrew and Biblical Studies at the Moody Bible Institute and often finds himself in Israel and the Middle East where he is a visiting Faculty at Israel College of the Bible and Jordan Evangelical Seminary. He is passionate about helping students interpret Scripture in light of its historical, geographical, and cultural content. He lived and studied in Israel in 1989-90, speaks modern Hebrew, and has hosted numerous biblical studies tours in the Middle East. He will serve as Scholar-in-Residence in Israel with CJF Ministries during his Sabbatical from Moody in 2009-2010. Tim and his wife, Bernice, are thrilled that their three children will experience life in Israel this academic year.
He is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Near East Archaeological Society, the American Schools of Oriental Research, and the Society of Biblical Literature where he has presented papers on Hebrew love poetry, interpreting biblical metaphors, and the history of Jewish biblical Interpretation. His dissertation, "Emotional Geography in the Song of Songs," examined how Hebrew love poetry employs geography by idealizing the Song's lovers and their land. Dr. Sigler has published in Trinity Journal and is an author in the forthcoming Moody Bible Commentary.
