Heavily used items are placed on Reserve in order to give more students access to the material. Reserve items are kept behind the Circulation Counter. Reserve items cannot be requested through Interlibrary Loan.
How do I find reserve items?
Reserve items are listed in TrinCat under the course reserve tab and in a notebook kept on the Circulation Counter. The notebook is organized by professor’s last name, course title, and then alphabetical by the title of the item on reserve. The call number is also provided for each item.
Checkout Procedure
A Trinity ID is required to check out reserves. Because reserves are kept in call number order, you will need to get the call number from TrinCat or the notebook on the Circulation Counter. Please be prepared to give the call number to the Circulation clerk. Any item that is taken from the Circulation Counter must be charged out. Due to heavy demand, only two reserves may be checked out at one time.
Checkout (Loan) Period
Reserve items have a loan period of two hours and are for in-library use only. Most reserve items may be checked out overnight up to two hours before closing. Commuters may ask for earlier evening checkouts. A few reserves are one day, and these may leave the library.
Return Procedure
Return all reserve materials directly to the circulation staff or place in the plastic tray on the Circulation Counter.
Renewals
Reserve books may be renewed once, provided that no one has placed a hold on the item.
Reserve Fines
Fines for reserves are calculated at 1¢ per minute, with a maximum of $10.00 per book.
