Requesting Books using WorldCat

  1. Check if the book is available at the Trinity Library through TrinCat or at an Illinois library through I-ShareOnly request items through WorldCat if they are not available in TrinCat or I-Share.
  2. Access WorldCat from the Library home page: http://www.tiu.edu/library or by clicking on this link to WorldCat. From off-campus, use your Groupwise / email Username/Password.  If you don't know it, contact IT.
  3. If you want to later check on items you've requested through WorldCat, see the instructions for setting up "My Account." If you already have an account, log in before you request the item.
  4. While in the Detailed record for the item you want to order, under "Method to Get Item ” click on the Interlibrary Loan button .
  5. If you are logged in to your Account, it should populate the form below.  If not, fill in your information. 
    • Not Needed After: YYYYMMDD (You must fill this in with a date in the proper format YearMonthDay. This date determines how long your request will remain active and has nothing to do with how quickly you receive it.  Give the latest possible date you can still make use of the material.)
    • Maximum Cost: (You may fill in an amount if you know you are willing to pay for books, otherwise leave this blank and we will contact you IF there is a charge.)
    • Comments: Please indicate if you can use another edition. Also, if the book is owned by Trinity but is "Lost" or "Missing" let us know that in this box.
  6. To send, click on [Submit].
  7. If you can't find your book in WorldCat, ask a Reference Librarian.
