Emerging Student Leaders is a program for incoming Freshman at Trinity International University. It is designed to give students an opportunity to experience life as a student leaders at Trinity while learning foundational principles for Christian leadership along the way.
The program consists of three main components:
Leadership Development Curriculum: This curriculum is focused on giving students a philosophical and theological framework for thinking about Christian leadership and then helping them think through how to begin to implement those ideas in their life and leadership.
Leadership Job Shadowing: Through a series of observations and interviews with current staff and student leaders, students are given the opportunity to explore the many avenues of leadership available to them at Trinity.
Emerging Student Leadership Conference: Throughout the year, the students will work on planning and implementing a leadership conference for high school students from across the country. The conference is held on Trinity’s campus, and the Emerging Student Leaders play a critical role in planning, teaching, and facilitating the entire conference.
How many students are chosen?
This year, Trinity offered the ESL option to 20 students.
Will the time commitment be too much for incoming freshman?
The staff associated with the Emerging Student Leaders program understands how critical it is for students to start off on the right foot academically. The program is designed to be less than a total of 3 hours a week, making plenty of time for students to attend to their academic studies. While at Trinity, academic commitment is an absolute priority and staff will work to ensure that this is the case for all of our Emerging Student Leaders.
Students selected for the program will move to campus on August 16. This is a week earlier than other freshman. As a member of the ESL program, students are invited to participate in the annual Student Leadership Retreat for all student leaders at Trinity.
Student athletes are encouraged to apply. Athletics requires a strong commitment of time, but we want to work with the student and the coaches to find a way for student athletes to be a part of the program.
Applications will be available very soon. Please let your admissions counselor know if you want to apply.
