Trinity Presents Spring Lecture Series: "Scientific Experimentation and Bioethics"Trinity Law School and Trinity Graduate School present a lecture series on "Scientific Experimentation and Bioethics" in February, March, and April 2007, featuring four notable speakers. The series will address the question, "Is there a right to scientific research that overrides other rights or ethical concerns?" Dr. John F. Kilner, the Franklin Forman Chair of Ethics, Professor of Bioethics and Contemporary Culture, and Director of the Bioethics program at Trinity International University, will speak on February 9-10. From 1994 to 2005, Dr. Kilner served as President and CEO of the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity. Yuval Levin is a Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center and Senior Editor of The New Atlantis. He will speak on February 23-24. His areas of speciality include reform of federal domestic policy programs, political philosophy, science and technology, and bioethics. Before joining EPPC, Mr. Levin served as an Associate Director of the Domestic Policy Council at the White House. He also previously served as Executive Director of the President's Council on Bioethics. Nikolas T. Nikas, President and General Counsel of the Bioethics Defense Fund, will speak on March 16-17. Nikas has directed national legal strategy on the issues of human cloning/embryonic stem cell research, abortion, and end-of-life issues since 1992. He has consulted with legislators in all 50 states an Congress, and he testifies in legislative committees on the constitutionality of bioethics legislation. Dr. Stephen Kennedy will speak on April 13-14. Dr. Kennedy has taught Business Ethics at Georgetown University from 1991-1993 and has also taught at Concordia University and Fuller Theological Seminary. As a full-time professor at Trinity Law School and Trinity Graduate School, Dr. Kennedy has led Trinity's annual student participation in the International Institute of Human Rights held in Strasbourg, France. Friday sessions will run from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Saturday sessions will run from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. All lectures will take place at Trinity's campus in Santa Ana, California.
