Kimberly Barnett Oram, PsyD

Kimberly Barnett Oram, PsyD, is a assistant professor of Counseling Psychology at Trinity International University, Florida. She began teaching for the MA in Counseling Psychology program the fall semester of 2005.

Dr. Barnett earned a Doctor of Psychology degree from Nova Southeastern University in 1999. Her master's degree in Clinical Psychology is also from Nova. She completed both her Internship in Professional Psychology and Postdoctoral Residency at The University of South Florida's Counseling Center for Human Development. Dr. Barnett has a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Prior to accepting a position with TIU, Dr. Barnett worked as a psychologist for outpatient psychotherapy practices in Nashville, Tennessee, and Bluefield, Virginia. She was also an adjunct psychology instructor for Bluefield State and Southwest Virginia Community Colleges. Dr. Barnett was trained and has practiced as a generalist. However, she has special interest in such areas as addiction, trauma, marital and family counseling, and health/wellness.

Dr. Barnett is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, the American Psychological Association, and Florida's Psychological Association. Her involvement in research has been in the Eating and Posttraumatic Stress Disorders areas of study.

Dr. Barnett grew up in the Appalachia Mountains of Southwestern Virginia. She and her husband, Chris Oram, were married April 4, 2004. They currently reside in Loxahatchee, Florida, where they spend time boating and enjoying the beach. They are the proud parents of two German Shepherds, a Chihuahua, and a cat. Dr. Barnett is also a singer/songwriter and plays acoustic guitar. Her husband is learning to play the bass guitar and is in charge of sound.
