The Christian Ministry major is a liberal arts program with a biblical, theological and social science foundation. Students are encouraged to deepen their personal walk with Christ and to develop patterns of deep personal integrity as they further prepare for ministry.   To enhance the practical components of the major, all students participate in a reflective ministry internship that provides first-hand exposure to diverse areas of ministry under appropriate supervision.

The Christian Ministry major is designed for individuals who are currently involved in some form of vocational or volunteer Christian ministry. The degree is beneficial for the working pastor and to anyone who desires to serve Jesus Christ and others more effectively in the church, in missions, in Christian organizations, or in the community.

Christian Ministry students work with dedicated faculty, examining the following critical areas for ministry:

  • Biblical foundation - a broad grasp of God's revelation as recorded in Scripture and its doctrinal and practical implications
  • Theological foundation - understanding of various theories and principles that relate to the practice of Christian ministry
  • Issue analysis - awareness of key issues and approaches related to the tasks of Christian ministry as well as the ability to develop a critically reflective stand informed by accurate interpretation and application of Scripture
  • Christian ministry intervention - ability to analyze situations, diagnose problems, and design effective interventions that are biblically grounded, culturally contextualized, interpersonally sensitive, and fundamentally ethical.
