John W. Nyquist, PhD John W. Nyquist is professor of mission and evangelism and director of the mission and evangelism internship program at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. He has taught at TEDS since 1977.
At Trinity, Dr. Nyquist is responsible for selecting, training, and supervising the evangelism teaching fellows who assist in the discipline and equipping of students enrolled in evangelism classes. He has also been director of summer overseas ministries. Dr. Nyquist has also been associated with Campus Crusade for Christ for more than thirty years. Dr. Nyquist received the Bachelor of Arts in music and physical education and the Master of Arts in music performance (French Horn) from California State University in Los Angeles. He then earned the Master of Divinity, the Master of Arts in New Testament, and the Doctor of Philosophy in intercultural studies from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. While at Trinity, Dr. Nyquist directed the Summer Overseas Ministries (SOM) program, which selected, trained, and sent more than 350 students into more than twenty countries for short-term ministries with churches and missions organizations. Dr. Nyquist currently directs the student internship program for the School of World Mission and Evangelism at Trinity. Dr. Nyquist's areas of expertise include cross-cultural evangelism, discipleship, New Testament studies, European culture, and the Roman Catholic church. He is also fluent in German. Dr. Nyquist is a member of the Academy for Evangelism in Theological Education, the American Society of Missiology, the International Association of Mission Studies, and the Society for the Study of Eastern Orthodoxy and Evangelicalism. Dr. Nyquist resides with his wife, Peggy, in Lake Zurich, Illinois. In his spare time, Dr. Nyquist enjoys running, basketball, travel, languages, reading, and music. |
