Living Learning Floors

The purpose of a Living Learning floor at Trinity is to integrate theological reflection on a specific interest along with practical applications in the context of a residential living community.  There are currently two options:  Spiritual Formation and Social Justice.

Advising, Field Education, and Mentoring

Each Living Learning Floor will be assigned a Faculty Advisor to provide guidance and reference materials for the floors.

Pursuing Field Education credit for engagement in a Living Learning Floor is strongly encouraged, but not required.  Although LLF residents must make their own arrangements for Field Education mentors, the Supervised Ministries Office has streamlined the Field Education program in order to reduce the amount of paperwork and allow for group mentoring.  Please see your RA for details.

Spiritual Formation Floor

The goals for this floor are:

  1. To develop the spiritual life of students who reside on this floor.
  2. To engage in the ministry of spiritual formation by facilitating the spiritual growth of Trinity College students.  Some of this ministry will take place working side-by-side with college students in various Trinity College ministries.

The residents of the Spiritual Formation floor will also read a book related to Spiritual Formation and discuss it over a regular meal together.  The women will read Sacred Rhythms by Ruth Haley Barton and the men will read Spiritual Disciplines Handbook by Adele Ahlberg Calhoun.

Women will be housed in Johnson Hall and men in Carlson Hall.  Since this floor is located in college housing to provide greater opportunity for mentoring with college students, the rules and regulations of living in college housing apply.  Open hours are Friday 6:00 PM - 1:30 AM, and Saturday and Sunday

3:00 PM - 11:30 PM.  Quiet hours are Monday through Thursday 11:00 PM - 10:00 AM, and Friday through Sunday 11:30 PM - 10:00 AM.
