There are two different options for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. You may take either the Internet-based Test (iBT) or the Paper-based Test (PBT).
Use code 1797 to submit your scores directly to Trinity’s Admissions Office. Your score must be less than two years old.
The following chart lists the required minimum score for each program of study.
| Certificate | DMin | MA | MDiv | PhD |
Special Student |
ThM |
Visiting Student |
|
| iBT | 92 | 92 | 92 | 92 | 100 | 92 | 92 | 92 |
| PBT | 550 | 580 | 580 | 580 | 600 | 550 | 580 | 550 |
Waivers from TOEFL are not normally granted. If a waiver is granted, applicants are required to submit scores from the same standardized exam required for native English speakers (Graduate Record Exam [GRE] or Miller Analogies Test [MAT]).
Waiver petitions must be submitted in writing to the director of admission a minimum of ninety days prior to the application deadline date in order to allow sufficient time for testing in case the petition is denied.
