Summer 2009 Financial Aid

General Information:

Tuition for most Master’s level classes is $500/credit hour. Please visit the Student Accounting Office website for details.
Students taking classes in Summer 2009 will be eligible to receive a prorated amount of the TIU grants/scholarships they normally receive during the academic year. Amounts will be based off the number for credit hours for which the student is billed. Receiving TIU grants/scholarships in the summer will not decrease one's aid in the fall
Students must be enrolled half-time in the summer in order to receive loans. Half-time is typically 5 hours.
Each year students are eligible for a maximum of $20,500 in Federal Stafford Loans (up to $8,500 can be Subsidized). We will assess remaining Stafford loan eligibility a student has leftover from the 2009-2010 school year.
If a student does not have any remaining Stafford loan eligibility we then recommend a Grad PLUS loan.

Register for all summer courses.
Fill out the Summer Financial Aid form and send it in to the Financial Aid Office. You must be registered before we will evaluate your summer eligibility.
Receive a summer award letter within 2-4 weeks of sending in the form.
Sign and return the award letter at least a week before classes begin.
Apply for a Grad PLUS loan if your Stafford Loan eligibility does not cover your summer costs.

Every student wishing to receive financial aid for the summer must complete the Summer Financial Aid form.
Any change in the number of hours you are taking will affect your summer financial aid.
If you drop below half-time at any point in the summer, all of your loans will be returned.
Perkins loans are not available for the summer.
