Kevin J. Vanhoozer is research professor of systematic theology at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and has been in his current position since 1998. He also taught at TEDS from 1986 to 1990.
Dr. Vanhoozer received a Bachelor of Arts from Westmont College, a Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary, and the Doctor of Philosophy from Cambridge University, England.
After teaching at TEDS for four years, Dr. Vanhoozer was appointed as a senior lecturer at New College, University of Edinburgh, Scotland, where he taught for eight years. He has served as a member of the Panel on Doctrine in the Church of Scotland and as cochair of the Systematic Theology group of the American Academy of Religion. He is the author of Biblical Narrative in the Philosophy of Paul Ricoeur (Cambridge University Press), Is There a Meaning in this Text? (Zondervan), First Theology: God, Scripture and Hermeneutics (IVP), and The Drama of Doctrine: A Canonical-Linguistic Approach to Christian Theology (Westminster John Knox). He is also the editor of eight books, including the Cambridge Companion to Postmodern Theology and the Dictionary for Theological Interpretation of the Bible (Baker), and serves as the North American Consulting Editor for the revised edition of the New Dictionary of Theology (IVP).
