Charles M. Sell, ThD

Charles M. Sell taught at Trinity from 1971 to 2000. Prior to coming to Trinity, Dr. Sell served in a number of ministerial roles related to Christian education. He was director of Christian education in three churches over a period of seven years and taught Christian education at Dallas Theological Seminary for three years. He helped found the Asian Theological Seminary in the Philippines in 1967 and was their dean for five years.

 

Dr. Sell received the Bachelor of Arts in preministerial religion from the University of Pittsburgh, the Master of Theology in Christian education from Dallas Theological Seminary, and the Doctor of Theology in systematic theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.

 

Dr. Sell's areas of expertise include family ministry, marriage, dysfunctional families, small group ministry, ministry to singles and to men, and the integration of psychology and Christianity. He is a member of the North American Professors of Christian Education.

 

Dr. Sell's publications include Unfinished Business: Helping Adult Children Resolve their Past (Multnomah 1989), Achieving the Impossible: Intimate Marriage (Multnomah 1982), Family Ministry (Zondervan 1994, Power Dads (Vine Books, 1996), and Spiritual Intimacy for Couples (Crossway Books, 1996) which he coauthored with his wife Virginia. His articles have been published in such publications as Moody, Family Life Education, Journal of Christian Education, and Christianity Today. Dr. Sell's Unfinished Business was given the Book of the Year award by Choice Books in 1990.

 

Dr. Sell and his wife, Virginia, reside in Mundelein, Illinois. They have four grown children.
