David L. Larsen is professor emeritus of preaching at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois. Before his retirement in 1996, he was chair of the department of practical theology and professor of practical theology at Trinity, where he served for fifteen years.
For more than thirty years Dr. Larsen pastored eight different churches in North Dakota, Minnesota, California, and Illinois. He also served as visiting professor at Friendship Bible Institute in San Francisco, Simpson Bible College in San Francisco, and Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois.
Dr. Larsen received the Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Stanford University, the Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, and the Doctor of Divinity from Trinity College.
Dr. Larsen's areas of expertise include preaching, evangelism, pastoral theology, Christian spirituality, and Bible prophecy. In 1984 he was voted Faculty Member of the Year at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
Dr. Larsen's seventeen published books include The Anatomy of Preaching (Baker 1989), Caring for the Flock (Crossway 1991), The Evangelism Mandate (Crossway 1992), Jews, Gentiles and the Church (Discovery House 1994), and Telling the Old, Old Story (Crossway 1995).
Dr. Larsen and his wife, Jean, reside in Lincolnshire, Illinois. They have three married children and six grandchildren. In his spare time, Dr. Larsen enjoys travel, hiking, and reading.
