Last year Wes Smith had an experience that changed the way in which he looks at the world around him. The senior football team captain joined thirteen Trinity students and staff members on a twelve-day mission trip to India. There, Wes met a woman who had recently become a Christian. Even though her husband forced her and their children to sleep outside the house each time she returned from church, she continued to come. Her faith in God made an impression on Wes, who says, "When I feel myself bending in my faith, I think, She didn't bend. I pray my faith wouldn't be materialistic, but a lot deeper."

Wes graduates from Trinity a top chemistry student. With encouragement from his professors, he was one of three hundred applicants nationwide accepted into a selective summer research project. But as he begins a career in pharmaceutical work, how will these trips affect him? Wes says, "I have a heart for God's people now. I want to make my life dependent on keeping a balance, where I'm always looking for ways to contribute time and money. The problems people are facing around the world aren't just universal problems, they're Christian problems—we're the ones who need to respond. I didn't think that way before."

“Trinity has stretched me to have a global perspective of life and learning.”
