    Clifford E. Williams, PhD

    Clifford Williams is professor of philosophy at Trinity International University's Trinity College and serves as chair of the philosophy department. He came to Trinity in 1982 after teaching at Houghton College and St. John Fisher College, both in New York state. He taught at Wheaton College from 1998-1999.

     

    Dr. Williams earned the Doctor of Philosophy from Indiana University and the Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College. Dr. Williams's areas of expertise within the field of philosophy include free will and determinism, religious dividedness, philosophy of time, and philosophy of love and friendship.

     

    Among his published works are On Love and Friendship: Philosophical Readings (Jones and Bartlett, 1995), Singleness of Heart: Restoring the Divided Soul (Eerdmans, 1994), Free Will and Determinism: A Dialogue (Hackett 1980), With All that We Have, Why Aren't We Satisfied? (Sorin Books, 2001), The Life of the Mind: A Christian Perspective (Baker, 2002), and Daybreakers: 365 Eye-Opening Reflections (Sorin Books, 2002), as well as numerous articles in journals and magazines, including Philosophical Quarterly, Analysis, Christianity Today, The Reformed Journal, Christian Scholar's Review, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Southern Journal of Philosophy, Philosophy and Phenomenological Research, Australasian Journal of Philosophy, and International Journal for the Philosophy of Religion.

     

    Dr. Williams is also an historian of current hobo culture and has published One More Train to Ride: The Underground World of Modern American Hoboes (Indiana University Press, 2003). Williams is a member of the Society of Christian Philosophers and the Philosophy of Time Society.
