Auditions and Eligibility
The orchestra is open to capable students of any age/grade (see requirements below).
The jazz ensemble is limited to students entering grades 7-12 in Fall 2009.
Auditions are not required. However, students must have a minimum of two years' playing experience on their instrument, and must read music well. String players should (at minimum) be working on literature comparable to the pieces at the end of Suzuki Vol. 4, and should play competently in the 3rd and 4th positions.
Sectional seating placements will be made after the first rehearsal at the discretion of the director.
Repertoire
The music director will choose pieces from the standard repertoire for each ensemble (e.g., early Mozart or Haydn symphonies for orchestra) suited to the numbers and ability levels of the players registered for the program.
Attendance
Because of vacations and other schedule conflicts, we understand that not every student will be able to attend all rehearsals. However, students who do not attend at least four of the five scheduled rehearsals (including the dress rehearsal) may not be able to perform in the final concert.
Tuition
- Before June 15, 2009: $59 per student ($99 for two or more in the same immediate family)
- On or After June 15, 2009: $79 per student ($119 for two or more in the same immediate family)
