Identify Your Career Options & Solidify Your College Major
Congratulations, you made it through your first year! The Career Services Office is excited to keep working with you this year as you identify your area of study and possible future professions. Take time to see what workshops will most benefit you this year and attend them! This year is a great time to shadow a professional in your field of interest. This is a great opportunity that will help you to evaluate your interest in a certain profession and to start building a network to help you with future internships and jobs. Also, continue to build and refine your resume as you are going to need it when you apply for internships!
Sophomore Year Check List
- EXPLORE three career options that interest you on Career One Stop.
- DOWNLOAD a free career guide on the Vault.
- NARROW your career interests further by job-shadowing a few professionals, attending a professional organization meeting, and/or interviewing professionals in your indentified areas of interest. Stop in Career Services for assistance.
- ATTEND job fairs and employer information sessions that relate to your interests.
- WORK toward one leadership position within Residence Life, SGA, College Union, Student Ministries, Multicultural Development, Athletics, etc.
- JOIN at least one on-campus organization related to your major such as Kappa Delta Pi, Psi Chi, or Trinity Counsil of Business.
- UPDATE your resume and cover letter and have them critiqued by Career Services.
