Career Counseling
The Career Services Office provides individual career counseling and testing by appointment. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about yourself and your career options to develop a plan for a successful job search. Career counseling is free to undergraduate students, however a minimal fee to cover the cost of materials and interpretation will be charged for testing. Career Direct Complete Guidance System
The Career Services Office is pleased to offer Career Direct as of December 2008. Produced by the well known Crown Ministries, it is one of the few assessment tools that approach the field of career guidance from a biblical perspective. Career Direct is designed to help you not only uncover potential careers but also assist you in finding your true calling. Career Direct provides a quality analysis of your personality, interests, skills, and values to help you learn more about yourself and is a personal growth resource that can help you maximize your God-given gifts and abilities.
The test takes about one hour to complete and will provide you with three personalized reports which include:
1) The Summary Report, which provides a condensed, 4-page review of your assessment results. To take Career Direct (which can be completed on any computer):
2) The Detailed Report provides an in-depth, 25-page comprehensive review of your assessment results.
3) The Coaching Report provides the Career Counseling staff with 11 additional pages
4) The Action Plan and the Job Sampler provide interaction via an online connection to O*Net which includes information on hundreds of occupations and careers.
1) Send an email to careers@tiu.edu with your name and cell number.
2) Pre-pay for your assessment code: $15 for students; $20 for alumni, and $25 for visitors, staff, faculty, etc. This must be paid in cash or check prior to taking the assessment.
3) Follow the directions emailed to you once you have registered and paid in Career Services
4) Contact Career Services for an appointment to review your results.
