    Spring 2008

    Dr. Michael Cooper became the editor of Sacred Tribes Journal and a research fellow of the Western Institute for Intercultural Studies.  He moderated a dialogue on religion and politics at the Areopagus Symposium in April.

     

    Dr. Sylvie Raquel accepted a position on the editorial board of Sacred Tribes Journal.

    Fall 2007

    Dr. Greg Carlson authored Rock-Solid Teacher Resource CD. The resource accompanies his book Rock-Solid Teacher: Discover the Joy of Teaching Like Jesus.  He is a founding charter board member of CAFE (Children's and Family Educators), a professional society of academic and church educators.

     

    Dr. Michael Cooper published "New Testament Astral Portents: God's Self-Disclosure in the Stars" in the Journal of Nature, Religion and Culture.  He also taught World Religions for the College of Lake County and lectured on Baha'i at North Suburban Evangelical Free Church.

     

    Dr. Sylvie Raquel led an all day seminar on the doctrine of santicifcation at the Larkin Baptist Church in Elgin, Illinois.

    Summer 2007

    Dr. Michael Cooper presented "Druids, Globalization and the Construction of Religious Identity" at the Center for Studies on New Religions international conference at the University of Bordeaux, France.

     

    Prof. Jana Sundene taught Wheaton College's summer class that trains counselors for Honey Rock Camp.  She is also on the review team helping Honey Rock assess the effectiveness of their programs.

     

    Dr. Sylvie Raquel reviewed " La nueva jerursalén, ¿ciudad celeste o ciudad terrestre?" for the Society of Biblical Literature

    Spring 2007

    Dr. Jim Stamoolis presented "What it Means to be Human: An Evangelical Response" at the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey, Switzerland. 

     

    Prof. Jana Sundene was elected to the board of the Association of Youth Ministry Educators last October and was recently elected secretary of the association.

     

    Dr. Michael Cooper contributed chapters to two books: "Syncretism and Post-Constantinian Christianity: Lessons in Light of Resurgent Paganism," in Contextualization and Syncretism: Navigating Cultural Currents (Pasadena: William Carey Library, 2006) and with co-author Dr. Steve Pointer, "Missiological and Historical Reflections on 17th Century Puritan Missions: Implications for the Business as Missions Movement," in Business as Mission: From Improverished to Empowered (Pasadena: William Carey Library, 2006).  Dr. Cooper also lectured on "Missiological Theology" in Hong Kong, China.

    Fall 2006

    Professor Jana Sundene spent a week in June at Honey Rock Camp (of Wheaton College) training camp counselors.  She is also reviewing an article for the Association of Youth Ministry Educators professional journal on community in youth ministry and will be leading three seminars at the Greater Chicagoland Sunday School Association conference in Oak Brook on September 23rd.

     

    Dr. Sylvie Raquel reviewed the book, L'Evangile de Marc: un original hebreu? by Jean Marie Van Caugh and Alphonse Toumpsin, in the Review of Biblical Literature.

     

    Dr. Michael Cooper presented "A Postmodern Countercultural Movement: The Growth of Paganism at the Da Vinci Code Conference at TIU Florida in June.  In July he gave a paper on "Pathways to Druidry: A Case Study of Arn Draiocht Fein" at an international conference at San Diego State University.
