In-Course Honors

Regularly offered upper-level courses in the student's major may be taken for honors credit by arranging for In-Course Honors. You must complete at least two of these to fulfill the Honors Program requirements.

In-course honors courses typically involve some or all of the following:

  • Extra reading and writing
  • Independent research
  • Individual meetings with the professor
  • Higher quality work

The student chooses a course for in-course honors, meets with the professor to secure approval and to work out an In-Course Honors Contract, and submits the contract form to the Director of the Honors Program no later than the first day of classes.
