Join the graduate discussions around a meal prior to the evening's event: How Complementarian is the Bible? by Philip Payne, PhD, on understanding the egalitarian position. Grad students, faculty and admin welcome. Limited to 120 seating.

Philip Barton Payne, author of Man and Woman, One in Christ: An Exegetical and Theological Study of Paul’s Letters, and specialist in N.T. studies, will discuss his 36 years of research on the biblical view of the role and relationship between men and women in the church, culture, and marriage. The discussion will be located at the Chapel building on November 12th from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Dr. Payne is an ordained minister of the Evangelical Free Church of America and professor of New Testament studies at Fuller Theological Seminary Northwest, where he has served since 1988.

University of Vienna Emeritus Professor of Egyptology Manfred Bietak will discuss his recent discoveries in the long-lost city of Avaris in Egypt on Monday, November 12, at 7 p.m. in Melton Hall, Waybright Center.

Dr. Philip Payne joins Trinity Society of Women (TSW) to discuss views on the role of women in ministry and whatever else you'd like to ask him and talk about. 

It has been a requirement since 2006 that ALL elementary and ALL history secondary education majors pass the IL History Test; this information was included in the syllabi of both HI 121 and HI 122. If you were in those classes, then you were told about this requirement. However, for those candidates who transferred American History credit in (either from High School AP credits or other college coursework), this may be the first time you are hearing about this requirement. As of Fall 2009 as part of the Division of Education, a passing score on this test will be a prerequisite for both ED 343 and ED 363. IF YOU'VE ALREADY PASSED THE IL HISTORY COMPETENCY TEST, THEN DISREGARD THIS MESSAGE. If you have not already taken and passed the IL History Competency Test, then you will have 3 opportunities to take it this semester. Passing this test is a requirement for Education Majors. You are able to re-take this test until you attain a passing score (75% or above). There is a STUDY GUIDE to this test. The dates for the Fall 2012 Semester are: (Location is MCL 112) · Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 from 4:30-5:30 · Wednesday, October 17th, 2012 from 4:30-5:30 · Wednesday, November 14th, 2012 from 4:30-5:30. The REACH Adult Undergraduate Program and Online Campus degree completion programs are hosting an information session on Thursday, November 15th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Lantern Lounge of the Waybright Student Center at our Deerfield campus. Take the first step on your pathway to success by joining us for light refreshments as we share about our programs and provide answers to your questions.

The garden celebration will be a time to discuss how the gardens went this first year, hear about the vision for Manna, and dream about our partnership with Manna for the future. You'll love hearing from the director of Manna, Yvette Ewing. We will also have some "master gardeners" attending who will be able to provide answers to gardening questions and solutions for next year. 

If you or someone you know is interested in having a plot next year please invite them to come. Garden interest forms will be available for members of the Trinity community (sign up now, plots will go fast). This is a great opportunity to learn the mission of the Trinity Community Garden as well as our partner Manna Garden Initiative.

Panera Bread in Bannockburn is hosting a Dine-and-Donate event for the TIU chapter of Habitat for Humanity. All day Friday, Nov. 16th, bring in the event flyer and make a purchase, and a percentage of the sale will go to Habitat for Humanity!

All students should register for their Spring 2013 courses online beginning the week of November 12. Information will be provided to students by the University Records office regarding when their registration window opens and at which point they can register.
