MANDATORY Pre-Clinical Practice Meeting

Wednesday, October 3, 2012 • 4:30 PM

EDUCATION MAJORS: Important MANDATORY informational meetings have been scheduled for all candidates who may be completing clinical practice (student teaching) during the next academic year: Fall 2013 or Spring 2014.  While it may seem a long way off to you, it is essential that the process of securing a placement for you begin this semester.   There is tremendous competition for student teaching positions in area schools.  Therefore, it is not too early to initiate this process.

If you are planning to student teach in either of those semesters, and have NOT already attended a meeting to talk about your Clinical Practice application, then you MUST ATTEND ONE OF THESE MEETINGS!!!  Candidates who do not attend one of these will not be able to student teach during the 2013-2014 academic year.

The information sessions are as follows:

Wednesday, October 3, 4:30 to 5:45 p.m.  in McLennan Rm. 210

Thursday, October 4, 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. in McLennan Rm. 210

You only need to attend one of those two sessions.

If you are an athlete, you need to request permission to be absent from practice so that you can attend one of these sessions.  Athletic practice does not qualify as an acceptable absence form this meetings.  Likewise, if you are employed, you need to request to be absent from work so that you can attend one of these sessions.  Employment does not qualify as an acceptable absence from this meeting.

If you are planning to student teach OVERSEAS you must contact Dr. Laurie Matthias in the Division of Education as soon as possible.  You should also attend one of these information sessions as well.

Any questions?  Check with MS. Minnie Price, the Coordinator of Clinical Practice, in the Division of Education.
