Financial Aid Awareness Month

Friday, February 1, 2013 • 12:00 AM

February is Financial Aid Awareness Month and February 4-8 is FAFSA Frenzy Week.

Now is the best time to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The funding for many types of financial aid is limited. In particular, the State of Illinois MAP grant, for undergraduate Illinois residents, is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. You must also file the FAFSA every year. The 2013-14 FAFSA website is now open, and you do not have to wait until your 2012 IRS tax returns are filed before completing the FAFSA. Simply submit estimated data and then update the FAFSA later. Click on the hyperlink for a quick 7-step FAFSA Completion tutorial.

Members of the TIU Financial Aid Office staff will be available in the Waybright Center lobby February 4-8, 11:30 – 1:30, to answer your FAFSA application questions.

The TIU Financial Aid Office is located in McLennon, Peterson Wing, lower level: Hours 8:30-4:30 M-F. Contact us by email or at 847.317.708.
