TIU Women's Basketball Coaches' Profiles Head Coach: Summer Stout Trinity International University (TIU) is pleased to announce that Summer Stout has accepted the position of Head Women's Basketball Coach for the Lady Trojans. Summer comes to Trinity after serving as Head Women's Basketball Coach at Montreat College in Montreat, N.C., since 2005.
"I am so excited about Summer's decision to become the next women's basketball coach. Her passion for the program and institution is exciting and will surely be contagious to her players and all involved with the program," said TIU Director of Athletics Patrick Gilliam. "She possesses a love for the game of basketball but an even greater desire to see her players grow in their lives and their walk with the Lord. Summer's leadership gifts and her relentless pursuit of Christ-centered excellence are exactly what the players and program need at this time." Stout's hire is a result of an extensive search that began in December of 2006. According to Gilliam, Stout's rapport with members of the Lady Trojans basketball team was evident during her interview in June 2007. In addition to her role as Head Women's Basketball Coach, she will assume the position of Sports Information Director. Stout is a 2003 TIU graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. While attending TIU, she played on the women's basketball team for the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons and was named All-Regional (2000-01), CCAC All-Conference (2001-02), and Team-MVP (2001-02). She also served as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at TIU from 2002-03, and director of the Chicago Bulls youth camp from 2002-03. After graduation, she toured Europe with Athletes in Action (AIA), a sports ministry organization for young adults, conducting basketball clinics and sharing her testimony of faith at AIA Youth Camps. Raised in Flora, Ind., Stout attended Carroll High School (CHS), where she earned eleven letters in basketball, track and field, and cross-country. Named All-State, All-Regional, and All-Conference for basketball, she led CHS to the sectional championships during her sophomore and senior year. Assistant Coach: Katie KempEmail: katiek@tiu.edu Phone: 847.317.8177 A graduate of Rockford West High School, Coach Kemp lettered in four sports winning state tournament in field hockey and making the Final Eight in volleyball. She was named Conference Female Athlete of the Year her senior year. Coach Kemp attended Western Illinois University on a field hockey scholarship and played on the basketball team. She transferred to Rockford College as a junior and was All Conference and All Scholarship in both field hockey and basketball. She was All State in basketball and named MVP in basketball her senior year at Rockford College. Coach Kemp graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education and was given the opportunity to try out for two women's professional basketball teams (WBL). She coached basketball at Cuba High School (IL) for seven years, achieving a .500 record, and coaching one player who played Division I basketball and played professional basketball overseas. She was also head coach or assistant coach for volleyball, track, and softball teams at Cuba High School and Rockford West High. Coach Kemp also coached field hockey for two years at The Kings College (NY). Coach Kemp has been employed by Trinity for eleven years, currently as the Director of Administrative Computing. She is also in her fourth season as Assistant Basketball Coach. |
