The Trojans played an intense battle against one of their rivals this week and came up just a little bit short.
Trinity traveled to Bourbonnais, IL to take on Olivet University and fell to the Tigers 17-14.
After a scoreless first quarter, Trinity jumped on the board first early in the second quarter on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Quarterback Ryan Thorson to Deon Dukes.
Olivet then scored the next 14 points and were leading 14-7 in the fourth quarter when Brennan Smith caught a 5-yard pass for a touchdown from Thorson to make the score 14-13. Kelly Tappenbeck's extra point tied things up at 14-14.
The game remained tied until 1:09 left in the fourth quarter, when Olivet's Matt Soulia kicked a 24-yard field goal to give Olivet the 17-14 lead, and eventual win.
The Trojans look to rebound this Saturday when they return for a home game against St. Ambrose University at 1:00 PM.
