Trojan’s Fall to Saint XDespite a great first half of play by the Trojans, Saint X rallied past TIU in the second half of their October 6, 2007, Homecoming match. Saturday’s game proved to be a very physical and intense competition as there were a combined eight yellow cards handed out to both teams. The Trojans played very well and received good contributions from their six freshmen starters. The first half saw TIU start off at a great pace. At the fifteen-minute mark, junior Blake Etherton received a pass from Freshman Kennedy Chongo and was taken down in the box, an a pentaly was called on Saint X. Senior Bobby McColl steped up and scored on the penalty kick. Five minutes later, Etherton received another pass from Chongo in the box, and this time Etherton found the back of the net. The Trojans went into halftime with a 2-0 lead. The second 45 minutes of play allowed for more intense play by both teams. Saint X was able to score a goal at the 30 and 34 minute marks, tying the score. With 30 seconds left to play, Saint X was able to convert on a penalty kick, giving the Cougars the lead and the win. TIU is back in action against IIT on Wednesday, October 10, at home. |
