2006 FOOTBALL SEASON PREVIEW

Trinity International University looks to rebound from a disappointing 2005 campaign and return to the form that gave them an 8-3 record and a berth in the 2004 NAIA National Tournament.  The Trojans will be lead by an outstanding senior class that provides athleticism, experience, intelligence and attitude.

The strength of the team may well come from a solid defense that returns 6 starters.  The Trojans defense is led by two-time First Team All-MSFA selection and TIU's all-time sack leader Jon Lehman.  Lehman, and his 17.5 career sacks, provides someone that opposing offenses have to plan for and opens up his teammates.

Behind the front line is a solid core of linebackers anchored by All-MSFA players Josh Tooley and Zach McDole.  McDole is one that you have to watch out for as long as his speed returns after his knee injury in 2005.  The loss of All Conference and All-American Brandon Dart will be tough, but ??? are battling for the playing time.

The secondary will be lead by All-Conference performer De'on Willis.  Returning starters David Grant and Lamont Love will provide speed and hard hitting.

The Trojan offense is anchored by Eric Mays who was named MSFA All-Conference as a freshman in 2005.  But the offense has a lot more questions than the defense with the loss of NAIA Honorable Mention wideout Nathan Endemano and All-Conference Honorable Mention running back Perry Wilson not returning to the team.  The Trojans hope that Dustin Copeland can continue where he left off and provide the outside presence needed.

The coaching staff will include Steve Little (Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator), Charlie Bilodeau (??), Mikal Smith (Secondary and Special Teams), Dave Neuhausel (Defensive Ends), Steve English (Defensive Tackles), and Robbie Shomaker.
